We’re about to let you in on a little Hawaiian secret, but you have to promise to not tell anyone about this. Deal? Okay.

Welcome to Kauapea Beach. It is popularly known as Secret Beach. In fact, the name Kauapea Beach directly translates to Secret Beach. It is located on the northern shore of the island of Kauai. It’s big, beautiful and secluded.

The beach has remained a local secret because of it’s location. There aren’t any roads leading to the beach. In fact, you have to hike to get there.

If you want to visit this beach you’ll have to travel on the Kuhio Highway past Kilauea and make a right on Kalihiwai Road. You’ll follow that road for about 50 yards before making a right turn into an unmarked, unpaved road. Drive on that road until you can’t drive your car anymore. You’ll have to park and continue on foot via a foot path that takes you to the west end of the beach.

Here are some travelers who’ve been there and Instagrammed about it.
